This is one of my favourite movies!
It has the perfect blend of fantasy, action, dark humour and sweet romance.
Charlie Cox is very likable as Tristan as he discovers there's more to his world than he realised and Claire Danes gives a wonderful performance as the star that captures his heart. I also really like Kate Magowan as Una and Melanie Hill as the witch Ditchwater Sal.
Mark Strong is excellent as power hungry Prince Septimus as he does all it takes to reclaim his crown and there's outstanding performances by Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert DeNiro who each go through very different transformations, but what really gives this movie its edge is all the smaller cast roles; every actor has great lines and there's so much humour throughout.
This is feel-good territory on a grand scale and is the perfect way to spend two uplifting hours! Magical!!
